monitoring of the basic infrastructure of IT environment.
SCOM 2007/2012
integration with Ozeki NG SMS Gateway is the best solution if you want to
send SMS text messages to mobile phones on various events. SMS notifications
will make your work flow more effective and will give you greater control
over your IT environment. You can improve your IT service levels by using
this solution. As it is quick, reliable and easy to setup, it makes IT and
business processes easier.
With Ozeki's solution you can send SMS from
SCOM 2007/2012 with notifications, alerts and reports. On this page you can find
additional information on how to send SMS from SCOM 2007/2012 and how to configure
it correctly.
Prerequisites
In order to run this solution properly you need to meet
Ozeki NG SMS Gateway's system requirements. Please make sure
you meet the listed below (Figure 1).

System architecture
When for example an alert occurs in the system the SCOM 2007/2012
generates a report for the user. This is done through the Command
Notification Channel. This channel is in direct connection with Ozeki NG
SMS Gateway's Command Line Tool. This tool interprets the message and
automatically send it to the GSM Modem or to the IP SMS connection through
COM1 channel. With SMPP (Short Message Peer-to-peer) protocol it is then
forwarded to the SMSC (SMS Center). Then the SMS message arrives to the
intended recipient. This quick and reliable process is pictured in the
architectural diagram (Figure 2).

Installation guide
To install and configure Ozeki's solution for SCOM 2007/2012
please follow the steps below and watch the video tutorials at the top of
the page.
Step 1. Create notification channel.
To do this you need to go to the
Administration menu then click on Channels.
After it, click on New on the Actions pane and choose Command (Figure 3).

A window appears and you need to choose a
name for the channel (For example: Ozeki SMS Alert) (Figure 4).

Then click on Next. A Command Notification
Chanel Setting pane appears and type the following values into it
(Figure 5):

the Channel pane (Figure 6).

Step 2. Create a subscriber
You need to go to Administration menu and
click on Subscribers and click on New on the Actions pane (Figure 7).

To choose a subscriber, you need to click
on the browse button on the left side and search for user or group on the
computer (Figure 8).

On the Select User or Group pane choose
Advanced and click on it. Click on Find Now on the left hand side.
Among search results choose for example Administrator and click on OK.
The chosen name should appear on Select User or Group pane.
Then click on OK and Next.
Next you need to schedule notifications.
On the schedule notification pane the Always Send Notification is
chosen by default (Figure 9).

Click on Next.
After this you also
need to define an address for the subscriber. Click on Add on the Subscriber
Addresses pane. At first you need to choose a name for the subscriber,
for example Text message (Figure 10).

On the Describe the Subscriber Address
pane type this chosen name and click on Next. The Provide the Channel and
Delivery Address pane appears and you need to choose the channel type and
channel name. For the channel type choose Command and for the command
channel select Ozeki SMS Alert (Figure 11).

Click on next, then on Finish and Close
this option.
After you finished you should see the
created subscriber at the subscriber list (Figure 12).

Step 3. Create a subscription
Go to Administration menu and click on
New on the actions pane.
At first, you need to choose a name for your subscription, for example:
Ozeki. Type this name into Subscription name on the Create Notification
Subscription pane (Figure 13). Then click on Next.

You need to create condition for sending
notification. Choose a condition from the list. In the criteria
description Notify on all Alerts is appeared. Click on Next (Figure 14).

Then you need to pick a subscriber
for the subscription. Click on Add and then on Search. You can choose one
from the existing subscribers. When it finds one, select it and click on
Add. It will appear among selected subscribers (Figure 15).

After it, you need to pick a notification
channel. To do this, click on Add on the Channel pane. Then search for
an existing channel (Ozeki SMS Alert), when it is found, click on Add.
It appears among selected channels (Figure 16). Then click on OK at the
bottom of the page, then on Next, Finish and finally close this option.

As a result you can see the created
subscription in the subscriptions list.
Test the system
To test the system you can use the
Notification Test Tool. (Note: This tool only work with SCOM 2007)
After opening this tool, type in the manager server name,
(for example: localhost), and click on Attempting to Connect at the bottom
of the page. You can generate an alert for the testing and its source
will be your management server. To do this, choose the Generate a Real
Alert link and click on Next. On the next side you need to select the type
of monitoring object, so choose ManagementServer and click on Next.
After this, you need to select Error and High in the details of the error
and click on Next (Figure 17).

By this, you have generated an alert, which
is appeared at the Active Alerts on the monitoring pane.
You can check it if you click on Monitoring on the left hand side of
SCOM 2007 and after opening it you select Active Alerts (Figure 18).

Now check the SMS sending of Ozeki NG SMS
Gateway by opening it, and after it you can choose Sent Messages and the
last one should be a Test Alert (Figure 19).
